I’m guessing this was taken around 1957 as I was engaged in one of my favorite pursuits — studying ants.
My father and grandfather were both serious photo hobbyists, but I have no idea which of them took this photo of me when I was around three years old.
Many of the early photos of me were printed in my dad’s darkroom, but this one is not a square format, so it clearly wasn’t taken with my dad’s or my grandfather’s Rollei. It might have been taken with my dad’s Leica, so there’s a clue, and he liked shooting with Kodak Plus-X. Other than that, I can’t tell you a thing about it, except that I was the subject, as was often the case until was sister was born.
Adorable. Thanks for the food-for-thought. Have you ever read E.O. Wilson’s “Naturalist”? You must.
I read E.O.Wilson’s shorter version of “The Ants” with my son when he was younger. So good! Still have to read Naturalist, though — thanks for the reminder!
Absolutely love this! !
Fantastic photo…nothing like the curiosity of a child (you)!
