I’m guessing this was taken around 1958 or 1959 in the back yard of my grandfather’s home, the rectory of my town’s Saint James Episcopal Church. My grandfather was The Reverend Fred Holmes, or Father Holmes, or just Poppy to me.

As I mentioned in this space a week ago, both my father and grandfather were serious photo hobbyists (and so was my uncle Hal and my dad’s cousin Al) and they owned Rolleiflex medium format TLR cameras back in the late 1950s, and they both took photos at family gatherings. So unless my dad or grandfather are actually in the picture, I can never tell who took any of the photos.

    Joe, Great picture. I adored your Grandparents who were my neighbors when we first moved to Muncy. Still miss your folks.
