Throughout the summer I plan to post older photos on Fridays, sometimes pictures as old as this one from 1985, a scanned slide from my first year in New York City.

That alley, sadly, is no longer like this. Even Cortlandt Alley has lost its edge. It’s enough to make someone start taking pictures of bees pollinating.
Uh, no, not yet.
Joe, you know the alley off Nevins and Union? They apparently weren’t pleased with photographers, and there are now no trespassing signs.
Theater Alley has been covered with scaffolding for years now, and Nassau Street side is suffering the construction of a high rise, so I think Theater Alley’s days are numbered.
Joe, it’s such a funny coincidence, I posted a photo of Theater Alley to my Instagram feed on June 6th! I made the photo during the digital photography shooting workshop you taught at NYU’s SCPS in 2007. I couldn’t remember the name of the street, but here this is to remind me, so I just tagged it #theateralley. Thanks for the class.
