Joe, I’ve been following you ever since you were first picked up by MUG. This is one of my favorite shots ever — even though I usually hate the pictures with someone smoking.
Shades of white. Beautiful shades of white.
I like the character sitting partially in the shades. I think that enjoy pictures that do not show what’s expected to be seen – though frustrating it reflects life as it comes, full of the unknown.

I sat on this one for a long time before posting it, but I think I was finally won over by the shape of the shadow overhead.
Unlike this photo, Louis Kahn insisted that his students photograph them outside, on a porch, when it was raining. The effect was interesting, just enough differentiation of light to model the surfaces – it provided a remarkably uniform presentation.

I almost never shoot in sunlight. I wake up in the morning and look out the window and say, “Another damned sunny day!”
