My father was a terrific amateur photographer, and when I was young, he took many of photos of me as I watched TV.
Was he thinking of these as a series? Or simply an opportunity to catch me sitting still?
(See all eleven images on my portfolio site.)
Thanks for the flashback Joe. Those were the days when we knew how to change channels without a remote.
There’s some photos of me in front of the television that look similar! When I was that age, I was more interested in what was inside the television set. The repair man would arrive, pull the set away from the wall, and go to work. Meanwhile, I would stand there and pepper the poor guy with questions. It was the start of what has been a rewarding career in electrical engineering. On a different note, if this were a decade earlier, you would have been sitting next to a large console, wooden radio. Thanks for this photo series. Bill
Bill Schintler, when the repair man opened the tv set, did you look inside to see where all the people lived?
Love these pix! The TV is a classic–and I like that your Dad included all the normal home background stuff–the blankets, the lamp cord…etc.
Thanks!
Paul
