The enormous Radio Store in Akihabara’s “Electric Town” in Tokyo closed last Saturday.
This image, from my from March 2011 visit, shows one of the dozens of stalls in the building.
Reading the article, then coming back to look at the photo, makes me feel such emotion for what this man will be going through starting the day after his business disappears. Having recently gone through something not entirely different, it can be overwhelming. He starts with a good attitude for moving on, “…realizing I don’t have to go to work.”
Thanks. Beautiful photo.
I like the unity that the yellows create. A straight forwarding picture, which is something I’ve always enjoy in your work – no romanticism.
Everything comes to an end – a New Yorker should be used to this – and so too the twinge of sorrow.
